Mrs. Leslie Speller-Henderson will serve as the Adviser to the HES Black Student Organization (BSO). She will take over the role from Christine Woods who will step down as Adviser at the end of the semester. Mrs. Speller-Henderson serves as Associate Extension Professor with the University of Missouri (MU) College of Human Environmental Sciences (HES) in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (NEP). Mrs. Henderson provides educational direction and leadership to the MU Extension Nutrition & Health Education Regional Faculty, including the Family Nutrition Education Programs (FNEP). FNEP provides community nutrition education to eligible Missourians through two federally funded programs: The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Nutrition Education (SNAP-Ed). She holds a Bachelor of Science from Tennessee State University. A Master of Science from Alabama A&M University. When I asked why she would like to serve in this role, Mrs. Speller-Henderson stated, “As a wife and mother of three millennials, I understand issues that individuals and families face as they navigate the challenges and rewards of making wise choices.
