TAM Students Win at Visual Art & Design Showcase

Textile and Apparel Management senior Catlin Miller, who is from Chicago, Ill., is the Grand Prize winner in the Applied Design category of the 2nd Annual Undergraduate Visual Art & Design Showcase sponsored by the MU Office of Undergraduate Research. Catlin received $3,000 that she may use to further her design efforts. Her winning piece, Honey Indulgence, used digital printing, and is not only wearable, but can also be used as wall art. Her mentor, Dr. Jean Parsons, Associate Professor in the Department of Textile and Apparel Management, was acknowledged and also received a monetary award. Congratulations to both Catlin and Dr. Parsons!

Caitlin Sadowski, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., received a Missouri Theatre Selection Award for her design, Elegance in Water, which will be on display at the Missouri Theatre in Columbia, Mo. Geo Gingham, designed by India Simpson and Maia Loesche, was selected as a runner up in the Applied Design category winning a $500 award. Maia Loesche is a junior from St. Louis, Mo. and India Simpson is from Munster, Ind. The Undergraduate Visual Art & Design Showcase is a new venue for undergraduates to display and discuss their scholarly work in an exhibition setting.
