The Mizzou Annual Fund plays an important role in supporting numerous University of Missouri-Columbia schools, colleges and organizations. Donors to the Mizzou Annual Fund may select a specific beneficiary of their gift, such as a college, school, endowed scholarship. Donations also may be used to:
Check or Credit Card Many donors find that the easiest ways to make a gift to the Mizzou Annual Fund are by check or credit card. Checks may be made payable to the University of Missouri-Columbia and mailed along with a pledge form* to:
The Mizzou Annual Fund also accepts gifts through Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards. To make a gift with a credit card, please choose one of the following options:
Endowments With gifts of at least $25,000, donors may create endowments for scholarships, technology, research, lecture series and other purposes. These gifts may be in the form of cash, securities — stocks and bonds — or property. A minimum endowment of $550,000 is required for a named professorship, and a faculty chair endowment may be created with a gift of $1.1 million. Faculty Scholars Program The Faculty Scholars Program is a unique naming opportunity for endowment support that recognizes exceptional faculty members. Minimum amounts range from $100,000 to $250,000. Major gifts may be made by contacting the Office of Gift Planning and Endowments at 1-800-970-9977 or (573) 882-0272, or by e-mail at giftplanning@missouri.edu. A representative will assist you with your contribution. Testamentary Gifts Bequests are one of the easiest forms of planned giving. A bequest may be provided through a will or trust, but it must be worded correctly in order to ensure that the donor’s wishes are fulfilled. The Office of Gift Planning and Endowments will provide sample language that may assist in establishing a bequest. Donors may name the University as the beneficiary of their retirement account. This gift option may provide significant income tax and estate tax benefits. Permanent life insurance policies may be donated to the University. Donors will obtain the greatest tax benefits by naming the University of Missouri-Columbia as both the owner and beneficiary of the gifted policy. Donors and the University both receive financial rewards through the following three types of gifts:

The For All We Call Mizzou comprehensive campaign recognizes that private philanthropy is vital to the University’s future. All private donations to the University are accepted with complete confidentiality. Donors who would like to be recognized for major and planned gifts may select membership in the Vanguard Society, the Jefferson Club or the Legacy Society. The Vanguard Society recognizes benefactors who have committed their gifts or pledges to the College of Human Environmental Sciences. The Jefferson Club was created in honor of Thomas Jefferson, whose principles of higher education were used to establish the University of Missouri-Columbia as the first state university located in the Louisiana Purchase territory. The Legacy Society honors donors who have provided gifts to the University through a variety of estate-planning methods, such as bequests in a will or trust, charitable remainder trusts, pooled income funds or gifts of life insurance. |
